EUREKA, CALIFORNIA (June 15, 2010) – 13 year-old Brandon White earned his second pole qualifying effort of the 2010 USAC Western Young Guns season, leading the pack at Orange Show Speedway on Saturday night.

White drives for Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle with sponsorship from North Coast Lighting & Electric, Inc.  The second year RSWC driver is campaigning in the entire USAC Western Young Guns series on asphalt which includes both NorCal and SoCal divisions.

White qualified first with a lap of 13.751 seconds around the quarter-mile asphalt oval.  His other pole of 2010 was recorded on March 27 at I-10 Speedway.

The lap qualified him for the trophy dash where he finished third.

In previous visits to the low-banked track, White noted that they had put down syrup to make a top groove.  On Saturday night, the track was syrup-free, making passing a difficulty.

White took his time going from sixth on the grid.  After a wild battle for fourth, White set his sights on third place and teammate Tanner Long.  White stuck his nose underneath Long but broke loose, spinning out.

With just five laps left in the race, White was only able to make one more pass and settle for fifth place.

The fifth place finish dropped White seven points behind points leader and teammate Austin Farley in the USAC SoCal standings.  White is comfortably in control of the Western Pavement and NorCal divisions however.

“Brandon’s almost ready to move into the full Focuses,” Driver Coach Ron Sutton said.  “When he turns 14 it’s going to be like letting an animal out of its cage!”

White will test a full Ford Focus Midget throughout the late summer with his 14th birthday coming up on September 24.  His series debut is tentatively slated for November 6 at the Las Vegas Nationals event.

IRVINE, Calif.(June 8, 2010)– 25 year-old Kyle Cattanach of Redding, Calif.will look to recover from an 11th place finish at Las Vegas, in this weekend’s “Mid Valley Iron & Metals 130”for SRL SPEARS Southwest Tour at the new Stockton 99 Speedway.

Cattanach is currently fifth in the 2010 series points after three races, driving the #88 SuperiorCrankshaft Chevrolet.  He trails the current points leader by 112 points entering the event.

The touring veteran has a career best finish of second at the speedway in a 2006 Westcar Late Model Series event that had a strong field of 26 cars entered.

Since his appearance in 2006, the speedway closed for two years before being revived in 2009 under ownership of Carol and Tony Noceti.  Among many improvements to one of NASCAR’s oldest quarter-mile asphalt ovals is new asphalt, which has lead to blazing speeds and a slight change in the racing line.

Cattanach ran near the top of the charts all weekend at Las Vegasa few weeks ago, but a late race incident while battling for a top-five finish relegated him to a disappointing 11th place finish in the final rundown.

This will be the last scheduled race with Motorway Motorsports as scheduling conflicts with its K&N and Camping World Truck teams have developed.

“This is not anything new as we came into this season knowing about Motorway’s schedule,” Grassroots Motorsports Marketing Manager Marty Melo said. “Right now we are actively looking at other opportunities for us and Kyle and we are confident we will tighten up our plans for the remainder of the 2010 season by early next week”.

Activities for Cattanach and SP Racing this weekend get underway on Friday afternoon with practice from 4 – 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, practices will be held throughout the afternoon with the “Mid Valley Iron & Metals 130”being the last race of the evening.  A crowd upwards of 3000 fans strong is expected.

Kyle Cattanach is sponsored by: Superior Crankshaft, PepperJack Kennels, Joe Gibbs Driven, CP Pistons, Carrillo Rods, B&B Redding I-5 RV Center, Shell Fast Track Food & Fuel, Shell Sportsman Express, Blakesley Sports Media, and supports the Shanesway Foundation.
